SummerStage Experience

What to Bring

Seating: Bring lawn chairs and/or blankets. Seating is unassigned and available on a first come, first served basis. We do have a limited number of chairs available for rent.

Clothing: Be prepared for the weather. Bring extra layers of clothing and an umbrella for changing weather conditions.

Food and drink: We sell snacks like chips and candy as well as wine, beer, soda, and water. Our cash-only concession stand opens one hour before every performance. You can also bring your own food and drink to make a picnic out of your visit. No grills are permitted.

Arrival

Since we are located within a Wisconsin State Forest, there is an entrance fee per vehicle. SummerStage patrons pay a reduced fee of just $5 per vehicle or it’s free if you have a Wisconsin State Park sticker.

After you park, it’s a 300 yard walk from the parking lot to the stage area. This walk can be challenging for some of our patrons so we do have a golf cart that can take you right to the box office, or even to the seating area if needed.

We recommend buying your tickets in advance, but you can also purchase from the box office gazebo on the grounds.

We invite you to picnic before the show! Come as much as 90 minutes before the show and enjoy the picnic tent near the stage. Many people will come early to set up their chairs, and then will enjoy the grounds before the show.

For Your Enjoyment

We do spray for mosquitoes weekly so hopefully they’ll not bother you during the show, but you might want to have some of your own on hand just in case.

We understand that being outdoors in a park can lend itself to bringing your dog or other pet with you to a performance. As a courtesy to other guests, we ask that you leave your pets at home. Guide dogs, however, are always welcome!

Smoking is not permitted on the SummerStage grounds and can be very disruptive to other guests. We ask that you please move away from the audience to the trail that leads back to the parking lot if you must smoke.

Help keep the park clean! Wisconsin state parks have a carry-in, carry-out policy. We do provide garbage and recycling containers. Please dispose of your trash in the appropriate container or carry it back out with you.

Our gardens are designed and maintained by Master Gardener Volunteers from Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties.

Weather

With summers in Wisconsin, the weather can range from cold to hot temperatures and a rain shower could pop up out of nowhere! We closely monitor the weather during every event and will rarely cancel in advance.

Light or steady rain: We will always try to complete the show. Be prepared and bring your umbrella and rain coat!

Heavy rain or wind: If we think it will quickly pass, we might decide to hold the show, but we won’t hold it longer than 30 minutes for a play for 45 minutes for a concert.

Lightning: If there is lightning in the immediate area, we will immediately cancel the performance for everyone’s safety.

If the show is canceled, your ticket will be good for any remaining dates of that show. If there are no remaining dates available, you may exchange your ticket for another comparable SummerStage event.
