Becky Foster is caught in a middle-age slump. She’s stuck in a dead-end job, a “stable” marriage, and a house that feels a little too quiet. But when a grieving, socially awkward millionaire wanders into her car dealership and mistakes her for a widow, Becky doesn’t correct him. Instead, she gets behind the wheel of a double life. What follows is a hilarious, high-speed chase through mistaken identities, romantic detours, and the “road not taken.”
Steven Dietz is one of the most prolific and widely produced playwrights in contemporary American theatre, with a career spanning over four decades and more than 40 plays to his credit. His work is celebrated for its versatility, ranging from the poignant AIDS-era drama Lonely Planet to the suspenseful Edgar Award-winning Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure. A staple of regional theatres across the U.S. and internationally, Dietz has received numerous accolades, including the PEN USA West Award in Drama and the Steinberg New Play Award Citation, cementing his reputation for blending intellectual depth with high-stakes storytelling.
Beyond his success as a writer, Dietz is a distinguished director and educator who has deeply influenced the next generation of theatrical talent. He served as a professor at the University of Texas at Austin for over a decade, teaching in the MFA Playwriting and Directing programs. Currently dividing his time between Seattle and Austin with his wife, playwright Allison Gregory, Dietz continues to be a driving force in the American theatrical canon, known for creating “theatrical mind-games” that challenge and delight audiences.
